Meditation Instructor
Dr. Annie Sinnott, DO is a dedicated Emergency Medicine Physician and certified meditation instructor whose journey intertwines medical practice with mindfulness and social advocacy.
Dr. Sinnott's exploration of mindfulness began in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and the profound loss of her father. This pivotal moment led her to embrace meditation, a practice that she finds both grounding and transformative. She continues to deepen her understanding through monthly teachings from renowned Buddhist practitioner and author, Lodro Rinzler. Additionally, she has completed the Embodied Social Justice certificate program with Zen master Rev. Angel Kyoto Williams, further integrating social justice principles into her spiritual practice.
As a "Crucial Conversations" instructor, Dr. Sinnott equips CEOs, administrators, and medical professionals with essential conflict management skills. Her focus on mindful communication fosters healthier interactions in both personal and professional settings, enhancing collaboration and understanding.
Dr. Sinnott is deeply committed to addressing healthcare disparities and advocating for a just medical system. Her experience as a Medical Director at a hospital on Chicago’s South Side exposed her to the systemic injustices within healthcare. In response to corporate threats to close the hospital, she and her colleague, Dr. Angie Aboutalib, organized community rallies and took their advocacy to Capitol Hill, amplifying the voices of those affected by inequities in healthcare.
Above all, Dr. Sinnott cherishes her role as a mother to her 7-year-old son, Eli, who she describes as her greatest teacher. His curiosity and innocence inspire her daily, reminding her of the importance of compassion and understanding in all aspects of life.
Through her multifaceted roles as a physician, meditation instructor, social advocate, and mother, Dr. Annie Sinnott embodies a holistic approach to health and healing, striving to create positive change in both individual lives and the broader community.
